Topix is a new LGBT Center event series. Each event will focus on a prevalent topic for our community and include a short talk followed by a large group discussion.

February's topic is Navigating Families of Origin. A "family of origin" is the family in which a person was raised. LGBTQ+ people face specific challenges related to their families of origin, most notably disclosing their queer identities. The "chosen family" of a queer person's adolescence and/or adulthood can be a welcome contrast to their family of origin experience. Participants in this discussion are encouraged to bring their lived experiences.
