Here's a few guidelines to keep in mind when putting together your puzzle and your pitch:
- Your pitch should be a 5-10 minute demonstration of your proposed puzzle. It can be a talk, a slideshow presentation, a physical prototype of your idea - whatever you want!
- The puzzle you're proposing should take 5-15 minutes in length to solve
- The puzzle should be completable without any outside knowledge or internet use. In other words, all knowledge needed (i.e. cipher translations) should be contained in the puzzle setup.
- The puzzle should be flexible enough to fit any theme (for example, last year the theme was "art museum heist").
- While your puzzle can use items that would need to be purchased, cheaper is usually better.
- Be specific! Details like what room(s) your puzzle will use help us get a better understanding of your puzzle.
Anyone who pitches a puzzle will also be able to win some prizes (that look suspiciously familiar to anyone who played CWRUQuest)! We'll be judging your pitch on a few factors: difficulty of the puzzle, length/duration of the puzzle, price/complexity to create, creativity, and pitch showmanship. The better you do in each category, the more we'll invest, and the more prizes you can get (plus the better your odds will be for winning it all!)
If you're planning on making a pitch, make sure to sign up for a time slot. Spots are very limited, so sign up fast! (If there's no slots left that work for you, email us at cwruscavengerhunt@gmail.com or reach out to a Gamekeeper via Discord).
