Our mission is to empower, engage, and educate individuals, care partners, and families living with dementia or other brain health issues to live a more fulfilling life through the arts, social interaction and community outreach.

The Carolyn L. Farrell Foundation for Brain Health has multiple enrichment and wellness programs for individuals with dementia and other cognitive health issues. During the sessions, student volunteers will join program directors in leading interactive sessions, including arts, dance, and music. Volunteer opportunities include weekly sessions on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday at the Center for Artful Living. An additional volunteer opportunity includes monthly Memory Cafe programs hosted at various Cuyahoga County public libraries, some in partnership with the Cleveland Clinic Center for Geriatric Medicine.

Mission
In keeping with CWRU's commitment to give back to the community, Doc Opera is a fundraising event for CWRU's Student Run Health Clinic. Our mission is to raise money for the program to provide quality healthcare and related services to those in our local community who lack adequate access or means.

Our secondary mission is to provide a venue for creative expression and interprofessionalism among the medical community and health professional students of Cleveland. Due to increasing popularity, attendance in recent years has reached over 1,000 guests per show, enabling us to donate tens of thousands of dollars to the Student Run Health Clinic. Doc Opera is a non-profit organization that relies on area businesses to help us defray the costs of production and to contribute to the annual donation we make to the Free Clinic. We are grateful for the donations and support we have received from many diverse businesses in various neighborhoods throughout the Cleveland area.

The Emergency Medicine Interest Group (EMIG) at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine is dedicated to fostering a comprehensive understanding of emergency medicine among medical students. Our mission is to inspire and educate future leaders in emergency medicine through hands-on learning, professional development, and community engagement. We promote education and training via workshops, simulations, and lectures to enhance clinical skills and knowledge. By facilitating mentorship and networking, we connect students with experienced professionals, creating a supportive community. We encourage research and innovation by supporting student involvement in projects that advance emergency medicine. Finally, we advocate for the specialty by raising awareness of the importance and challenges of emergency medicine. Through these efforts, EMIG aims to cultivate a passion for emergency medicine and prepare our members to excel in this dynamic and critical specialty.

Mission
HOPE4 is a student initiative that volunteers with urban youth from Fairfax and the surrounding communities who are either currently in juvenile detention or who have recently been released. We conduct small-group sessions that involve mindfulness, writing, reflection, and both one-on-one and group activities to help combat recidivism and give these young people hope for the future. Sessions address topics such as safety, building a support network, belonging, love, forgiveness, self-esteem, knowledge and education, and self-actualization.

As the Palliative Medicine Interest Group, we strive to provide education to our medical school community about palliative medicine and end of life care. Case4Hope is a collaboration between CWRU SOM and Project Hope for the Homeless located in Painesville, Ohio that provides medical education to the guests at Project Hope. We hold sessions at Project Hope once a month to discuss mindfulness, mental health, smoking cessation, and any other health-related topics that they may want to discuss. Efforts have also focused on donations and fundraising.

Mission
The Horizons program is a mentoring organization in which medical school students from Case Western School of Medicine and undergraduates from Case Western Reserve University come together to form close knit groups with high-school students for the benefit of all three levels of students. The mission of Horizons is to utilize the field of medicine to empower inner city teenagers as learners and teachers, in order to support their intrinsic motivations to achieve academically. Through a combination of clinical exposure, problem-based learning, role model exposure, and self-reflection, this program seeks to help close our nation's academic achievement gap among students of varying racial and socioeconomic demographics.

The goal of this program is to empower students from Cleveland to pursue careers in medicine. Thus, we anticipate the benefits to student participants will include empowerment, inspiration, education, mentorship, and resources that are conducive to their path to medicine. Specifically, members will have the opportunity to mentor Case Western undergraduate students, become a mentor for neighboring high school students, network with doctors, and volunteer in medical related events.

Mission
The purpose of the Pickleball Club is threefold: to (1) act as a central organizer, (2) minimize the barrier of entry for new players, and (3) create a sense of community around accessible physical activity.

Membership Benefits
(1) The Pickleball Club will schedule recurring court times within the Veale Recreation Center during the Winter and at nearby parks during the Summer. Additionally, the club will organize tournaments for player enjoyment for the purpose of friendly class competition.
(2) Using club funding, the Pickleball Club will purchase paddles, balls, and nets to be used by club members so they may engage in the sport without the financial barrier to entry. Additionally, the Pickleball Club will host beginner sessions to teach new players the rules of the game, help them to develop their skills, and serve as a safe space to learn.
(3) The Pickleball Club will be inclusive to all students from all grades within the School of Medicine. Through playing Pickleball, members will have the opportunity to exercise in a fun and collaborative manner. This time spent learning and playing will help to foster relationships and build a sense of community for all players involved.
