Details

Site Details: The CWRU Community Pantry offers free resources such as perishable and shelf stable food items, hygiene products, cleaning products, and clothing. Open to all students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Service Details: Volunteers will assist the Community Pantry in unloading deliveries from Greater Cleveland Food Bank. Volunteers will unbox thousands of pounds of food, sort the food, provide our Graduate Assistant with the proper expiration dates and inventory numbers for tracking, and then shelve items. Please note: closed-toe/closed-heel shoes (no sandals, clogs, or flip flops) are required. The project may also include lifting boxes and standing on your feet for the duration of the service.

When + Where: Registered volunteers will meet at the CWRU Community Pantry at the service start time.

Waiting List + Cancellation Policy:
  • If registration is full, please join the wait list as you will receive an email update if a spot becomes available. If you are still on the wait list at the time of the event, you are welcome to stop by CCEL at that time to see if any last-minute spots open.
  • Upon registering, please do your best to honor the commitment you've made to this activity.
  • If you are no longer able to attend, please email serves@case.edu as soon as possible to inform CCEL staff - less than 24 hours will be considered an unexcused absence.
  • Not notifying our staff of absences or too many absences in one semester may impact your ability to participate in future CCEL Serves programs.

Accessibility: CCEL is committed to providing all students with opportunities to take full advantage of our programs. Our staff recognizes that students with documented disabilities may require reasonable accommodations in order to achieve this objective. If you are interested in taking part in a specific project but have questions related to accommodations and/or the accessibility of a site, please contact the office of Disability Resources (216.368.5230 or disability@case.edu), and they will work with a representative from our office to answer your questions.
