In honor of National Volunteer Week, the Center for Civic Engagement & Learning (CCEL) continues our Social Change Series by highlighting Social Responsibility through a week of projects and events, April 17 - 23.
We invite you to engage you to engage in a virtual or on-campus service project, including fleece blanket making, supporting people-powered research, or providing feedback to incarcerated poets. Or, explore an educational program, such as Prosocial Bystander Training, Navigating Virtual Volunteering Info Session or a CareerLab resume review about marketing service on your resume.

4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
The Virtual Career Lab led by a Career Consulting Intern from Post Graduate Planning & Experiential Education will provide quick guidance on your resume with specific information related to marketing civic engagement experiences as a CWRU student.
This Virtual Career Lab will be drop-in style and does not require you to attend at a specific time, however advanced registration is required to ensure capacity for providing resume guidance.
2:30 PM – 3:45 PM
Zooniverse is an online platform for people-powered research, allowing researchers with large amounts of data to analyze their data more easily through the help of volunteers. If you're a student who is interested in conducting research of your own in the future, or if you enjoy supporting research in areas you're interested in, this opportunity is perfect for you.
Participate in the #everynamecounts crowdsourcing project by helping transcribe information from historical documents, such as names and birth dates and contribute to the world's largest online archive (https://collections.arolsen-archives.org/en/search/) of documents on the victims and survivors of National Socialism. In 2020 the archive received the European Heritage Award / Europa Nostra Award 2020, Europe's highest honor in the field of preserving cultural heritage.

Project Linus is a non-profit organization that provides homemade blankets to children in need. Blankets are collected locally and distributed to children in a variety of locations including hospitals and social service agencies. Be a part of this important endeavor by completing fleece blankets that will be given to the local Project Linus chapter for future donation.
6:00 PM – 7:30 PM
This violence prevention workshop is a skill-building opportunity from the Mather Center's It's On CWRU campaign to end sexual violence on our campus and beyond.
Disrupting the Culture of Violence: How to be a Prosocial Bystander is an evidence-informed bystander intervention program that uses community care as the foundation of intervention. It teaches how to identify potential violent incidents, individual responsibility to intervene, and how to do so safely and effectively in order to maintain a safe environment for all people.
7:00 PM – 8:15 PM
Are you looking for ways to stay engaged with the community but unsure of how to do so remotely? Come learn about the ways you can incorporate volunteerism into your life from the comfort of your computer. Whether it's finding a few times to volunteer during the semester, or making a commitment to serve on a regular basis, CCEL can help you find the right volunteer fit for you. 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
CWRU's Project Sunshine student chapter is a non-denominational, not-for-profit organization that provides numerous free programs and services to children with cancer, AIDS, and other life-threatening illnesses. In this project you will learn about Project Sunshine's mission and assemble activity kits that will be sent to children currently staying in the hospital.
The project will take place on campus.
