Assist at a local food pantry coordinated by the Cleveland Food Bank. Help clients with shopping and selecting items, loading vehicles, organizing product and general upkeep of the pantry.
The GCFB Euclid Pantry is a choice pantry which allows clients to select their own food instead of receiving a pre-packed or standard bag of groceries. With this method, clients do not have to take items they already have, do not like, or cannot eat for health or personal reasons. Having the opportunity to choose their own food gives the people being served a sense of dignity and control, limits waste, and allows them to tailor the help they receive to be the best possible fit for their own unique situation.
Registered volunteers will meet at the CCEL office at 3:00 p.m. and return to campus by 7:30 p.m. Transportation is provided in a CCEL van driven by the student Serves Leader. Closed-toe/closed-heel shoes (no sandals or clogs) and masks are required. The project may also include lifting boxes up to 50 pounds and standing on your feet for the duration of the service.
If you no longer plan to attend, please make sure to take your name off the list at least 48 hours before the program in order to make room for someone on the waitlist. Not doing so may impact your ability to participate in future CCEL Serves programs.
Accessibility: CCEL is committed to providing all students with opportunities to take full advantage of our programs. Our staff recognizes that students with documented disabilities may require reasonable accommodations in order to achieve this objective. If you are interested in taking part in a specific project but have questions related to accommodations and/or the accessibility of a site, please contact the office of Disability Resources (216.368.5230 or disability@case.edu), and they will work with a representative from our office to answer your questions.
