Church of the Covenant provides a spiritual home for many students, faculty, and staff. Their building is over 100 years old and provides many resources for the community. The church provides a free community meal at the end of the month and needs volunteers to assist in serving and preparation.

Volunteers will greet community members arriving for the hot meal, help them feel welcome, direct them to the dining room, help prepare plates, and serve food to guests. Volunteers are invited to join in the meal, sit among guests, and engage in conversation. After the meal, volunteers are needed to help with light clean up.

Registered volunteers will meet at 4:00 pm at the CCEL office (Tinkham Veale University Center, Suite 165, first floor, near Bellflower Rd. entrance) to check in and walk over to Church of the Covenant together. Volunteers will finish volunteering at 7:00 pm.

Please note: Volunteers should dress comfortably but modestly (i.e., no tank tops or tight clothes) and must wear closed-toed shoes and long pants to participate in this project.

Waiting List + Cancellation Policy:
  • If registration is full, please join the wait list as you will receive an email update if a spot becomes available. If you are still on the wait list at the time of the event, you are welcome to stop by CCEL at that time to see if any last-minute spots open.
  • Upon registering, please do your best to honor the commitment you've made to this activity.
  • If you are no longer able to attend, please email serves@case.edu as soon as possible to inform CCEL staff - less than 24 hours will be considered an unexcused absence.
  • Not notifying our staff of absences or too many absences in one semester may impact your ability to participate in future CCEL Serves programs.

Accessibility: CCEL is committed to providing all students with opportunities to take full advantage of our programs. Our staff recognizes that students with documented disabilities may require reasonable accommodations in order to achieve this objective. If you are interested in taking part in a specific project but have questions related to accommodations and/or the accessibility of a site, please contact the office of Disability Resources (216.368.5230 or disability@case.edu), and they will work with a representative from our office to answer your questions.
