Saturday of Service: Food Strong Garden Work @ Coit Road Farm

Site Description: Food Strong's mission is to cultivate food justice in Northeast Ohio and beyond by building enduring local food systems from the ground up. They use the power of food and collaboration to transform under-resourced neighborhoods into thriving, self-sustaining communities.  Food Strong operates a Learning Garden at the urban farm at the Coit Road Farmers Market which serves as an onsite location where various educational programs can be hosted. Students regularly practice selling their produce at farmer's markets to gain business skills.

Service Description:  Volunteers are needed to maintain the Learning Garden at the urban farm across the street from the Coit Road Farmers Market, and also help the historic Coit Road Farmers Market by cleaning and organizing their space. This may involve weeding, light repairs, clearing brush and trash.

When + Where: Registered volunteers will meet at the CCEL office at 9:45 am and will return to campus by 1:20 pm. Volunteers will travel together to the site with a CCEL student leader via private bus.

Waiting List + Cancellation Policy: 

• If registration is full, please join the wait list as you will receive an email update if a spot becomes available. If you are still on the wait list at the time of the event, you are welcome to stop by CCEL at that time to see if any last-minute spots open.
• Upon registering, please do your best to honor the commitment you've made to this activity.
• If you are no longer able to attend, please delete your registration in Campus Groups as soon as possible. If your cancellation is within 48 hours, please email serves@case.edu as soon as possible to inform CCEL staff - less than 24 hours will be considered an unexcused absence.
• Not notifying our staff of absences or too many absences in one semester may impact your ability to participate in future CCEL Serves programs.
