Details

Site Description: Canalway Partners is a non-profit that serves as a catalyst for projects and programs within the Ohio & Erie Canalway National Heritage Area in Cuyahoga County. They aim to preserve the natural and cultural experiences of the Ohio & Erie Canalway for the future and connect people to place, by increasing public education and experiences around the history, heritage and environment. They led in the development of the Towpath Trail in Cuyahoga County and Canal Basin Park, and they regularly program acclaimed Cleveland events including The Towpath Marathon, Cycle Canalway and RiverSweep.

Service Description:  Volunteer will work with a couple hundred matted photos in plastic sleeves from over the years. The plaques on the mats are dated, so volunteers would repackage these photos, removing the black mat and resealing the photo with the backing so the organization can reuse the images for an upcoming campaign. Volunteers may also help disassemble our old yard signs.

When + Where: Registered volunteers will meet at the CCEL office at 11:30 am and will return to campus by 2:30 pm. Volunteers will travel together to the site with a CCEL student leader via CCEL minivan.

Waiting List + Cancellation Policy:

  • If registration is full, please join the wait list as you will receive an email update if a spot becomes available. If you are still on the wait list at the time of the event, you are welcome to stop by CCEL at that time to see if any last-minute spots open.
  • Upon registering, please do your best to honor the commitment you've made to this activity.
  • If you are no longer able to attend, please delete your registration in Campus Groups as soon as possible. If your cancellation is within 48 hours, please email serves@case.edu as soon as possible to inform CCEL staff - less than 24 hours will be considered an unexcused absence.
  • Not notifying our staff of absences or too many absences in one semester may impact your ability to participate in future CCEL Serves programs.

Accessibility: CCEL is committed to providing all students with opportunities to take full advantage of our programs. Our staff recognizes that students with documented disabilities may require reasonable accommodations in order to achieve this objective. If you are interested in taking part in a specific project but have questions related to accommodations and/or the accessibility of a site, please contact the office of Disability Resources (216.368.5230 or disability@case.edu), and they will work with a representative from our office to answer your questions.
