Site Information: Kids Against Hunger is a student organization at CWRU whose mission is to significantly reduce the number of hungry children in the USA and throughout the world. KAH works with local partners in Cleveland to pack and distribute highly nutritious, vitamin-fortified soy-rice casserole.

Service Information: This is a food packing event comprised of four different shifts with the goal of packing 5,000 meals for hungry children. Volunteers will help with set up and clean up during the the first and last shifts. Volunteers on the assembly line will help with a variety of tasks associated with packaging the meals. Some heavy lifting may be required and volunteers may be required to stand for the duration of their shift. The shifts available are:
  • 10:00-11:30 am - help unload the meals from the truck, set-up tables, and help get the room ready for the packaging event. Some heavy lifting may be required. There may be time to begin to pack meals after set up.
  • 11:30 am - 1:00 pm - volunteers will work in small groups and may stand for the duration of the shift. Tasks might include mixing ingredients, weighing the packages, and sealing the packages.
  • 1:00-2:30 pm - volunteers will work in small groups and may stand for the duration of the shift. Tasks might include mixing ingredients, weighing the packages, and sealing the packages.
  • 2:30-4:00 pm - help load the meals into the truck, break down tables, and help clean up the room after the packaging event. Some heavy lifting may be required. There may be time to finish packing meals before clean up.
Time and Location: Registered volunteers will meet at Fribley Commons Multipurpose Room (204) at the start time of their shift and finish 90 minutes later.

Wait List/Cancelations: If registration is full, please join the wait list as you will receive an email update if a spot becomes available. If you are still on the wait list at the time of the event, you are welcome to stop by CCEL at that time to see if any last-minute spots open.
If you sign up for this activity, please do everything you can to honor your commitment. If you are no longer able to attend, please inform CCEL 48 hours or more before the start time by emailing serves@case.edu. Not doing so may impact your ability to participate in future CCEL Serves programs.

Accessibility: CCEL is committed to providing all students with opportunities to take full advantage of our programs. Our staff recognizes that students with documented disabilities may require reasonable accommodations in order to achieve this objective. If you are interested in taking part in a specific project but have questions related to accommodations and/or the accessibility of a site, please contact the office of Disability Resources (216.368.5230 or disability@case.edu), and they will work with a representative from our office to answer your questions.
