Machine Learning Workshop (Today!) (Attachment)
TODAY, Friday, April 14th, ACM-W will be meeting in Thwing 302 at 3:30 pm to learn more about machine learning in a workshop led by Emma Guarnieri. With the increased use of AI in recent years, machine learning has also grown as a field and shows the potential to revolutionize many existing industries. More specifically, machine learning involves developing algorithms to allow computers to learn and make predictions from existing data.
If you are interested in learning more about how machine learning may affect the tech field or how machine learning works be sure to join us and register using the CampusGroups link below!

Grace Hopper Conference (Attachment)
This year, the Grace Hopper Celebration will be held on Sept. 26-29. Throughout these three days, there will be a variety of events including keynote speakers, both technical and non-technical talks, and networking opportunities such as 1-on-1 meetings with various companies for potential internship or job opportunities. In the past many students at CWRU were given the opportunity to connect with a variety of companies and acquire a summer internship or a full-time position. This conference is open to both graduate- and undergraduate-level students.
Grace Hopper Celebration is one of the largest conferences aiming to support women and non-binary individuals in computing. This celebration is formed to highlight and empower women in technology and recognize their achievements in computing. The conference is named after Grace Brewster Murray Hopper (1906–1992), an American computer scientist, United States Navy rear admiral and the inventor of the first compiler.
Women in Tech is able to fund a select number of women and/or non-binary students who demonstrate interest and would benefit from attending the conference.

EBME 320: BIOMEDICAL IMAGING (Attachment), Fall
Instructor: Xin Yu, Sc.D (Wickenden 430, xin.yu@case.edu)
Time: Tuesday & Thursday 2:30-3:45 pm
Overview:
In this course, students will learn the basic principles, instrumentation, and applications of biomedical imaging modalities including X-ray, CT, magnetic resonance imaging, SPECT/PET and ultrasound. In addition to learning about the fundamentals of these medical imaging techniques, students will learn concepts related to image assessment (contrast, resolution, point-spread function, noise, detection, etc.) and visualization.
This course will be taught in an “inverted-classroom” style, where students will watch recorded lectures before class and then attend classroom hours to ask questions, work on problems, and perform Matlab-based imaging projects together. Guest lectures will be provided to cover advanced topics. Students will also participate in two labs, one on CT and one on MRI, to gain hands-on experiences in image acquisition. Lab reports will focus on image reconstruction from the raw data, as well as on analysis of the reconstructed images. See attachment for more information.
