About Us

The Case Liquid Propulsion Team (CLPT) is an engineering team founded on providing exciting, relevant, and cutting-edge industry experience for students at CWRU. The club aims to provide students with challenging, interdisciplinary engineering opportunities to grow professionally and individually. CLPT aims to positively contribute to the Midwest talent pool and prepare future engineers to tackle problems confidently. Additionally, CLPT aspires to be recognized across the United States as a team pushing the boundaries of engineering by competing in the Lander Challenge in 2027. The short term goal is to build and hotfire a small liquid rocket engine, with the ultimate goal of using a custom made propulsion system on an actual flight vehicle.

Members Benefits

Being a member of CLPT enables one to fully immerse themselves in designing, building, and understanding rocket engines from scratch. Members can expect to be consistently challenged technically, build their interpersonal skills, and significantly increase their engineering competency. The team is founded on the thesis of mentorship, where senior team members will pass down valuable technical knowledge gained from industry and personal experiences to help develop and teach junior members. The team greatly benefits members by providing relevant project experience to write on resumes and talk about during interviews, thus increasing their likelihood of satisfactory employment pre and post graduation. The team will meet twice weekly to complete design and manufacturing work. There are also several more unique events planned, including hosting design reviews, witnessing engine hotfires, system testing and integration, and guest lectures from students who have worked in industry sharing their experiences.
