The Clinical and Translational Science Collaborative (CTSC) Science Cafe is a monthly educational series that gathers together scientists, investigators, trainees, and community members to engage in meaningful discussions aimed at forging new collaborations through common interests in exciting areas of research.

Every month features a new research focus, content expert, fresh perspectives, and a chance to discover uncharted territories in the world of science. Each Science Cafe begins with the content expert discussing their own work and potential areas of collaboration.

The April CTSC Science Cafe will feature Dr. Rachel Pope - she is an obstetrician/gynecologist in the Department of Urology with an appointment in the Department of Reproductive Biology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. She is fellowship trained in global women’s health, specifically in childbirth injuries, including obstetric fistula in sub-Saharan Africa. She has additional training in vulvar and vaginal disorders and sexual dysfunction. She has an interest in vaginal reconstruction and provides surgical care for women with vesico-vaginal and recto-vaginal fistulas, postpartum birth injuries, cancer survivors, women with sexual dysfunction, and individuals undergoing gender affirmation surgery. Dr. Pope’s research is primarily focused on obstetric fistula and public health topics, including reproductive health and SARS-CoV-2, and barriers to women’s sexual and reproductive health care.

This online session will be held Wednesday, April 16, from noon to 1 p.m.
