Our goal is to connect medical students through rock climbing in a fun, inclusive, and welcoming environment. We organize bouldering and top-rope activities at local climbing gyms. No climbing experience is required to participate and we encourage students of all skill levels to join us on our climbing outings.

Members of our club will gain awareness of and access to rock climbing as a way of movement and a source of community. Our club will break down barriers to climbing (such as cost and equipment) through structured events at indoor climbing gyms and local outdoor crags. Our mission is to promote awareness and understanding of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) and all sexual and gender minority (SGM) communities through our committees spanning across advocacy, mentorship and professional development, education, and social and wellness.

Membership Benefits
Case Med Pride will aim to foster community among LGBTQ+ individuals associated with the Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Medicine (SOM). We will serve as advocates for social change within our SOM and our greater communities. We will offer educational seminars and lectures to further educate all members of the medical community in treating their eventual gender and sexual minority patients.
Some of these events and projects will include:
- Advocate initiatives for sociopolitical change within CWRU, Cuyahoga County, the State
of Ohio, and the nation.
- Social events to foster community among all medical students associated with CWRU
SOM or the Lerner College of Medicine.
- Lectures by medical providers on topics relevant to LGBTQ+ health.
- Participation in MSPA National Events as they arise.

Case Med for Harm Reduction is dedicated to promoting health, safety, and well-being within the Cleveland community by providing comprehensive harm reduction education. Through collaboration with local organizations, healthcare professionals, and community leaders, we work to reduce the negative effects of substance use and other high-risk behaviors. Our mission is to empower individuals with the knowledge, tools, and resources they need to make informed decisions, while fostering a compassionate and non-judgmental environment that supports prevention, education, and access to critical services.

CaseMed Harm Reduction (CMHR) offers its members the opportunity to engage in community outreach, educational workshops, and collaborative initiatives focused on harm reduction and public health. The mission of the Geriatrics Interest Group at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine is to foster a comprehensive understanding and appreciation of geriatric medicine and to provide opportunities for professional development in the pursuit of providing care to older adults. We provide exposure to geriatrics by organizing lectures, workshops, and electives led by healthcare professionals who work with older adults. We support students interested in research on aging and facilitate hands-on learning experiences. Mission
The Health Advocacy Organization (HAO) aims to foster skills training and community engagement to develop the next generation of health advocates. We bring greater visibility to health disparities and drive health policy that promotes change through activities such as elective classes, voter registration, and advocating for health reform at various levels.

Membership Benefits
The organization meets its objective in part by leading the HAO electives at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. These electives were created by a group of student-advocates beginning in 2017. These courses will provide in-depth education and practical skills training for students who want to advocate for structural improvements to the health of our society. Outside of these electives, HAO provides unique outreach and advocacy opportunities like Day of Advocacy, mentorship, research, and service project opportunities.

Through this longitudinal curriculum, we hope to introduce students to how healthcare providers can advocate for patients and contribute to conversations about public health and broader policy. These electives will also help students expand their network of mentors and classmates who are interested in social justice advocacy so that they will be able to maintain and build upon the passion that led to their interest in medicine.

The Human Rights Initiative's (HRI) primary goal is to oversee the Asylum Clinic, which provides forensic documentation of the physical and psychological sequelae of torture and abuse experienced by individuals applying for asylum in the United States. The organization is guided by research from Physicians for Human Rights, which shows that inclusion of a medical affidavit in an asylum application significantly increases the likelihood of approval. HRI is a unique opportunity for medical student volunteers to learn about the profound nature of the struggles of asylum seekers and work directly with providers in the forensic examinations and legal affidavit preparation.

Membership Benefits
We offer scribing and other opportunities to volunteer with the Asylum Clinic, in order to support asylum seekers in the US facing deportation. We meet weekly to discuss client cases and will send out emails periodically to ask for scribes for medical and psychiatric evaluations.
