Our university proudly exclaims, "You are Welcome Here!," but true inclusion of our diverse international community requires authentic effort and ongoing reflection. Both international and non-international members of the community are welcome to discuss their visions of a truly integrated and inclusive campus.

Free speech and civility have taken on new dimensions in light of the current polarization and extremism gripping our country. What does it mean for a university to promote free speech when more groups are openly espousing views that denigrate specific identity groups and promote exclusion? This session will explore what it means to promote civic education in this context.

Last Spring, over 35 different CWRU offices, departments and organizations joined together to issue a statement of support for the Asian community, condemning the rise in hate crimes here in Cleveland and across the country. This session will focus on the ongoing difficulty of discussing Anti-Asian crime and how to make the conversations count. Moderated by Siu Yan Scott.

Building a campus community requires a commitment to conversation. In this session, participants will discuss the principles of Sustained Dialogue and share what issues are foremost in their minds - what ideas will you bring to share?
