Doc Opera 2021: GARLA La Land
Doc Opera is proud to present our 37th annual show: GARLA La Land! The title of the show is a play on our well-known anatomy curriculum, GARLA (Gross Anatomy, Radiology, & Living Anatomy). This year, the performance will be held live at the historic Masonic Auditorium in Cleveland as well being livestreamed. In addition to skits and musical numbers by students and faculty, the evening will include a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, and dessert reception following the show.
About Us
Doc Opera is a fundraiser and musical production organized by the students and faculty of the Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) School of Medicine and the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. Drawing talent from multiple health graduate programs, all components of Doc Opera are written, choreographed, directed, and performed by students and faculty to create a memorable night of musical performances, skits, and dances about medicine, healthcare, and Cleveland. The performance draws hundreds of audience members ranging from students, faculty, and alumni of the participating programs to healthcare providers, patients, families, and other members of the Greater Cleveland community.
Mission
Doc Opera’s primary mission is to raise funds to provide quality healthcare and related services to individuals and families in our community regardless of their ability to pay, through our CWRU Student-Run Health Clinic. Doc Opera also provides a venue for creative expression and inter-professionalism among the medical and health professional students of Cleveland.
Important COVID-19 Precautions
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this year's Doc Opera will be offered both live in-person as well as live-streamed. All ticket buyers will have the option to attend in person, but all will receive a personalized livestream link on the day of the show as well. In-person attendees are required to wear masks as well as present either a COVID-19 vaccination card demonstrating full vaccination status (photo of card + ID are acceptable) OR a negative COVID-19 test completed within 48 hours of the show. CWRU Students and faculty may alternatively show their CWRU IDs as demonstration of vaccine policy compliance.
