Please join us for an unforgettable evening, as the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine proudly present Doc Opera 2020: Trauma Mia! For the first time ever, we will be livestreaming the show on December 12, 2020, for easy access and viewing wherever your home may be. We hope that this year’s virtual performance will draw an additional audience of students, faculty, and alumni from across the country, in addition to our healthcare providers, patients, families, and other members of the Greater Cleveland community.
Now in its 36th year, Doc Opera is an annual variety show written by, directed by, and starring students from various CWRU graduate programs, including many students from the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine and Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine. Drawing talent from multiple health graduate programs, all components of Doc Opera are written, directed, and performed by students and faculty to create a memorable night of skits, musical performances, and dances about medicine and healthcare. The evening also includes a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction, with donations coming from students and local businesses. VIP Tickets will include a printed version of the limited edition Doc Opera 2020 Program, mailed directly to your home.
Our Mission
In keeping with CWRU’s commitment to give back to the community, Doc Opera is a fundraising event for Case Western Reserve University’s Student Run Health Clinic. At the SRHC, graduate students from the medical, nursing, physician assistant, and social work schools at CWRU and the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine work together to provide high quality, compassionate healthcare to underserved populations within the greater Cleveland community.
With the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, the SRHC had to completely revamp its model of service to maintain public health precautions and encourage social distancing. During this hiatus, the SRHC also moved locations to now be hosted within Neighborhood Family Practice, a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) with multiple sites throughout the Cleveland area. As the Student Run Health Clinic reopens in 2021 amidst a completely unprecedented global pandemic, it is more important than ever that the SRHC has the proper funds to serve the most vulnerable patients.
Our Doc Opera mission is to raise money so this program can continue to provide quality healthcare and related services to those in our local community who lack adequate access or means. Due to increasing popularity, attendance in recent years has reached over one thousand guests per show, enabling us to donate tens of thousands of dollars to the Student Run Health Clinic. We are incredibly grateful for the donations and support we have received from our audiences and many diverse businesses throughout the Cleveland area.
