Hi Fellow Grad Students!
GSC is delighted to announce that registration for the CBTA 2025 Professional Development Conference is now open! Space is limited, so please register ASAP via Campus Groups (here) or the QR code in the flyer below. (Registration closes tomorrow, Tuesday March 18th)
This event is open to all graduate, professional, and postdoctoral level trainees interested in furthering professional development, regardless of discipline!
This multi-day event consists of panels of multidisciplinary experts and hands-on workshops, as well as sessions on topics ranging from personal branding to pursuing academia, women in industry, and more! Following the first day of training, there will be a career networking session on April 16th. This is an opportunity to meet and network with companies that are interested in graduate students and postdocs.
Because of the current difficult times that many of our trainees may be facing, Dr. Shereen Naser, a psychology associate professor, will give the keynote address and discuss coping with external stressors, mental health, and well-being.
You can view the full Conference schedule below!
During the registration process, you will be directed to a form that will enable you to personalize your conference itinerary to fit your needs and schedule constraints (we have a variety of concurrent sessions to choose from).
Due to the support of GSC and our other generous supporters, we are now able to provide access to the plethora of resources at the conference for a general trainee admission fee of only $10. This fee covers all sessions listed, along with coffee and lunch! See further details below.

The Cleveland Biomedical Trainee Alliance (CBTA) consists of six biomedical trainee associations from CWRU, Cleveland Clinic, and CSU. The purpose of the CBTA is to bring graduate and postdoctoral trainees together from across the Cleveland region for robust professional and personal development with opportunities for networking and career planning on a multi-institutional scale.
In this pursuit, and in response to data collected from trainees amongst our partnering institutions, the CBTA has developed the 2nd iteration of the Annual CBTA Professional Development Conference focused on providing resources for trainees to develop themselves for their future careers.
All sessions will be held in the CWRU Tinkham Veale University Center Kelvin & Eleanor Smith Foundation Grand Ballrooms A, B, C.
The Conference Program will consist of 1 day of training and 1 day of networking:
- Wednesday, March 19, 9-5pm: Professional/Personal Development Training Sessions
- Wednesday, April 16: Career Networking Sessions
Join us for a one-stop-shop for professional, personal, and career development for trainees!
We look forward to seeing you there!
Best,
GSC on behalf of
The 2025 CBTA Professional Development Conference Committee
