Holi, known as the "Festival of Colors," marks the arrival of spring after a long winter in the Hindu culture. It is a time for joy, laughter, and strengthening relationships through playful celebrations. While Holi is primarily observed in India and Nepal, it is also celebrated in many other countries across Southeast Asia and around the world.
The festival is traditionally celebrated by throwing colored powders and water at one another. Each color carries a cultural meaning:
Red – Union & purity
Pink – Friendliness & happiness
Purple – Devotion to self & spirit
Blue – Power & passion
Green – Vitality & rebirth
Yellow – Sincerity & piety
Orange – Strength & courage
Historically, these colors were derived from medicinal herbs such as Neem, Kumkum, Haldi, and Bilva, which were used in the festivities to help prevent seasonal illnesses.
Today, Holi’s colorful traditions have inspired many popular events in the U.S., including the Color Run 5K and the Festival of Colors Music Tour.
Come celebrate with us and experience the joy of Holi!
