KSL Library Advisor Newsletter

October 2025

Settling Into CWRU

Wow, we’re already over a month into the fall semester! October brings a lot of events around campus and the Cleveland area, peak fall foliage, and Fall Break on October 20 and 21. This is a great time of year to explore Cleveland’s Metroparks and other outdoor areas, like Lakeview Cemetery or Cleveland Cultural Garden. As your classes’ workloads start ramping up you may feel overwhelmed but the library has resources designed to help you. Don’t forget that you can schedule a research consultation with a librarian at any point during the research process for some guidance and assistance!

In this month’s newsletter we feature KSL’s study spaces, explain how to check out a book, talk about UTech’s services, and highlight upcoming events!

The Spaces of KSL

KSL is full of unique study spaces, some built for individual work and some for collaboration! If you enjoy working with others or have a group project coming up, you might want to consider reserving one of KSL’s 12 collaboration rooms available on the first floor, third floor, and lower level. These rooms feature a wall-mounted  42" LED TV that can connect to laptops for effective collaboration. A wall-panel control unit lets you hook up to HDMI, VGA and composite ports (cables and adapters are also available at the Service Center). You can learn more about these spaces and make reservations by following this link.

There are also plenty of seats designed for privacy and independent work throughout the library. What kind of spaces will you discover during your time at CWRU?

Library How To's

Found a book you’d like to read but now sure how to check it out? Don’t worry, we have a step-by-step guide for how to find books in our stacks and then check them out to read. Employees of the first floor service desk can also answer any questions and we do have a self-service kiosk if you want to swipe your Case ID, scan the book, and go!

Featured Service

Having technology issues? Unable to connect to CaseWireless? Laptop keeps freezing and interrupting your research process? Luckily, UTech has an on-site team here at KSL ready to help! Located on the Lower Level, the UTech C.A.R.E Center is available for walk-up technical support, computer repairs, or consultations about any technology-related questions or issues you may have. Visitors may ask questions, receive consultation or check-in machines for repair by our on-site team.
