KSL Library Advisor Newsletter

January/February 2025

Welcome back to your second semester at Case Western Reserve University! Hopefully you’re settling back into the routine of being on campus and enjoying your new classes despite the freezing temperatures and constant snow showers. The library can be a great place to pop in for a break while between classes and grab a warm drink or snack at Cramelot Cafe.

Last semester you were introduced to the library and some of its resources but you’ll likely find yourself discovering even more this spring! In this month’s newsletter we highlight the physical space of the Freedman Center, how to get help on Digital Scholarship projects, and services offered by the Freedman Center.

The Spaces of KSL

The Freedman Center is physically housed on the first floor of Kelvin Smith Library. In this space you can find the lab with scanning equipment and work stations, studio spaces for recording, the Collaboration Commons as a study space, and equipment borrowing. This space is open for self-service and available to all CWRU students, staff, and faculty. If you have any questions or need assistance don’t hesitate to ask the Service Center staff or reach out to the Digital Scholarship team!

Featured Service

The Digital Scholarship team offers one-on-one support for using advanced technologies or software to meet your research goals. No matter what stage of the research process you're at or what level of experience you have, a Digital Scholarship team member can help! Whether need assistance using specific software, what to know what resources are out there to support your research, or just want to explore a general topic, the Digital Scholarship team can meet your needs! Meet the team and make an appointment today!

Library How To's

The Digital Scholarship team hosts workshops throughout the year to introduce students to new software and platforms. These workshops require no prior knowledge or experience, simply sign up and learn something new! We've included some upcoming workshops below but check our Campus Groups page throughout the semester for new additions.
