This month we’re sharing a special edition of the library advisor newsletter with information about another library on campus! There are several specialty libraries on campus like the Ben C. Green Law Library, the Lillian and Milford Harris Library for Social Work, and two branches of the Cleveland Health Sciences Library. This month’s newsletter was written by the director of the Cleveland Health Sciences Library, Jessica DeCaro!
Welcome to the Cleveland Health Sciences Library (CHSL)! The CHSL specifically supports the Schools of Nursing, Medicine, and Dental Medicine, but all students are welcome to use our spaces and services. Even if you are not taking classes from one of the health sciences schools, we’re here to support you!
The CHSL has two locations on campus: we are in the Allen Memorial Medical Library Building, on the corner of Adelbert and Euclid, and on the second floor at the HEC Samson Pavilion.
The Spaces of CHSL
At the Allen, you’ll find both quiet AND collaborative spaces to study, librarians, and staff to help you with your information needs, and the bulk of the library collections (like our rare book collection which dates back to 1470’s, the history of health sciences collection, course reserves, and theses and dissertations, reference, etc.). Our staff is connected to and heavily involved with campus pre-health sciences.
At the HEC, the library sits within the 24x7 quiet study area. Students love knowing that that space is always going to be quiet for them. At the library circulation desk, you can check out print course reserves which support your classes at the HEC. You can also meet with a librarian who can assist you in navigating databases, accessing full text, and your research.
Featured Service
You can reach out to us via email at chslreference@case.edu, but we have an on-demand chat service called AskCHSL. That service is available M-F 8:00am-4:00pm. Even if we’re not on duty, drop a question in the chat and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
Library How To's
The CHSL continually creates research guides, tutorials, and other multi-media to help you to navigate the website, utilize our services, and use the library’s print and electronic materials, tools, and databases. You can access these resources from the homepage of our website at CHSL.
