Welcome to CWRU from your Library Advisors!

Congratulations on completing your first week at CWRU! The first day of classes, Monday August 28, was our busiest day of people in the building since 2019. It was a great start to what is hopefully a great semester!
 

Your Library Advisor (LA) is your personal connection to Kelvin Smith Library (KSL). Your LA will serve as an additional contact and source of information during your first-year and throughout your CWRU career. You will hear from us throughout every month as we share information about how to get the most out of  (KSL) and other Case Libraries. This newsletter is designed to help you succeed by sharing helpful tips, information, and upcoming events! You can also contact your LA directly any time if you have questions about the library, the CWRU campus, or the Cleveland area.  We look forward to connecting with you this year!

The Spaces of KSL

The Kelvin Smith Library is a great place to study and collaborate, meet with friends, grab a bite to eat, and access a wide variety of resources and services. If you want to find a specific place within the building check out this interactive map from our KSL website.

You can find our hours for the fall semester (with special hours around holidays) pictured below and on our website.

As you explore the spaces of KSL take a photo of yourself in your favorite and submit it to our photo contest before September 22! You could win a Target gift card or be featured in upcoming newsletters!

Your new Case ID card also functions as your Case Libraries card! With this card you now have access to:

Case Libraries books and materials

Print and e-books available from OhioLINK, state-wide library consortium with universities sharing their collections

Multimedia tech equipment (digital video cameras, microphones, projectors, and design tools) available at the first floor service desk

Multimedia workstations in KSL's Freedman Multimedia Center (first floor)

Library How To’s

KSL has many research collections and resources available to students online. To make sure you’re able to access what you need be sure to follow these tips!

If you’re on-campus, make sure to use the "CaseWireless" network, instead of the "CaseGuest" network.

If you’re off-campus, sign onto CWRU's FortiClient VPN software and the DUO app before going to the KSL website. This will mimic the “CaseWireless” network and ensure direct access to all online library resources and full-text collections.  If you don’t have the VPN client on your computer, please visit this page on the CWRU Utech website to get set up.
