KSL Library Advisor Newsletter

September 2025

\"\"

Welcome Back to CWRU and KSL!

Welcome back to campus for another year! As a first-year student you received this newsletter every month and were introduced to Kelvin Smith Library, its resources, services, spaces, and events. Now you’ll receive the newsletter once or twice a semester with tips and information to help you enhance your library experience throughout the rest of your time at CWRU.

Your Library Advisor (LA) is your personal connection to Kelvin Smith Library (KSL) and able to assist you during any stage of the research process. Whether it’s gathering sources for a class assignment, seeking places to share your own work, or perfecting your citations your LA is an additional source of information to help you succeed. You can find and contact your librarian or make an appointment on our website. We look forward to connecting with you this year!

Updates from KSL

The library has undergone a few changes over the summer! In the physical building we have replaced the welcome desk with a card scanner to tap your Case ID when entering the building. If you need assistance the service desk is staffed from 8:00 a.m. - 11:30 p.m. Monday - Thursday and from 8:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. on Fridays.

The Freedman Center has also received an update and is now staffed from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. from Monday through Friday if you need any assistance using the technology. Feel free to explore the new space on the first floor of KSL which features high-powered computers, advanced software, and study space. You can learn more about the center, its services, and set up an appointment on our website.

Online we went through a platform migration and our search has an updated interface! This system includes many of the same features including tabs at the top of the page for type of searching, searching by title or author, and filtering results. If you have any questions or run into any issues please feel free to use the contact information included on the New Search page.
