Library Advisor Tips & Notes
November 2021
Welcome to the November 2021 issue of the Library Advisor Tips & Notes newsletter!
The Thanksgiving holiday is fast approaching! And before you know it, those end-of-semester assignments and projects will be coming due. Rest assured, though, that KSL and your Library Advisor will be available if you need help. This month’s newsletter highlights the many ways you can connect with us, how you can expand your information searching with OhioLINK, and a few notes on interesting spaces and events at KSL if you need a study break.
KSL Spaces
Located in the Northeast corner of Kelvin Smith Library’s second floor, the Special Collections department manages the use and preservation of older, rare and fragile items in our library collections and archives. The department features a beautiful and spacious reading room for researchers, as well as engaging exhibits of highlighted works and other materials drawn from the collections.
The current exhibit in the Hatch Reading Room is Taming the Tongue in the Heyday of English Grammar, 1711-1851. The exhibit tells the colorful story of the contentious ways in which the use of the English language was codified into grammars and dictionaries.
The reading room is open by appointment Monday - Friday 10am - 4:30pm, during which time it is also frequently open for exhibit viewing. Feel free to contact Special Collections staff at kslspecialcollections@case.edu if you'd like to arrange a time to visit the exhibit or learn more about our rare book and manuscript collections.
