Ever looked at a book in the stacks or in a shop and seen those mesmerizing designs that seem to be painted on the binding? This is the art of paper marbling. In celebration of Preservation Week, Kelvin Smith Library will be hosting a paper marbling workshop for any and all individuals interested in learning more about this fascinating process. Join the library's Preservation Officer, Andrew R. Mancuso, on Friday, April 26th from 2-5 PM to see beautiful historic examples from the library's Special Collections and have the chance to create your very own sheet of marbled paper. Participants are advised to wear clothes they can get dirty as this is a hands-on workshop. We will meet by the Keith Haring sculpture in the lobby of the first floor of the library and head down to the Preservation Lab following the arrival of all participants. If you must arrive late, please ask the staff at the service desk to direct you to the Preservation Lab in the lower level.
