2019 was proclaimed The International Year of the Periodic Table by the United Nations General Assembly and UNESCO to mark the 150th anniversary since the development of the periodic table of chemical elements, and to celebrate its creator, Dmitri Mendeleev.

KSL invites you to participate in a Periodic Table Online Challenge for a chance to win one of three $50 gift cards. The Online Challenge is scheduled for the week of October 28 – November 1, and consists of a daily challenge of five questions related to the chemical elements, each correct answer valued at one point. Each daily challenge will be open between 8:00am and 11:59pm. Visit https://researchguides.case.edu/IYPTKSL for more details and to start the Challenge!

There is no requirement to participate in all five days’ challenges. However, the cumulative score from all the correct answers provided will determine the final ranking, as well as the winners.

The Online Challenge week will end with a reception on Friday, November 1 at 4pm. The reception will include a lecture on the history and significance of the periodic table by Professor Alan Rocke of the CWRU Department of History, followed by an award ceremony.
