Please join us as we celebrate the legacy of Rozella M. Schlotfeldt and hear from Mr. Howard Catton, CEO of the International Council of Nurses, on the importance of nurse's leadership and engagement in health policy at local, national, and global levels. One lucky attendee will receive a complimentary registration to the 2027 ANA-Ohio Policy Influencer Bootcamp, courtesy of the American Nurses Association-Ohio, a $300 value.

As CEO of the International Council of Nurses, Mr. Howard Catton has been at the forefront of advancing nursing's voice in global health policy and governance. His leadership in co-chairing the first State of the World's Nursing Report marked a watershed moment for the profession, providing critical evidence to inform workforce planning, investment, and policy decision-making worldwide. Throughout his tenure at ICN, he has consistently emphasized the central role of nurses in achieving equitable, effective, and resilient health systems.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, he led ICN's global response to support nurses and advocate for their protection, wellbeing, and sustained investment. His work developing ICN policy and position statements-through close collaboration with the World Health Organization, the United Nations, and other international partners-has ensured that nursing expertise informs the highest levels of global health decision-making.

This lecture series honors the legacy of Dr. Rozella M. Schlotfeldt, a national transformational leader whose work shaped nursing as both a profession and a discipline. As Dean of the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing from 1960 to 1972, Dr. Schlotfeldt articulated a bold vision of professional nursing practice grounded in autonomy, scholarship, and societal impact. She was a tireless advocate for nurses' roles in shaping health systems and policy, championed the baccalaureate degree as the foundation for professional practice, and laid the conceptual groundwork for doctoral education in nursing.
