Mission The MSTP Council is an elected body of student leaders that plans and implements program projects and improvements. This organization conducts regular meetings where issues important to students with the CWRU MSTP (Medical Scientist Training Program) are addressed. Several of the main functions of the Council are to plan and implement student-driven functions of the MSTP, including the annual summer retreat, a monthly series of educational dinner meetings, and web page maintenance. There is also the opportunity to create a committee for students to pursue activities that may interest them and benefit the MSTP. Examples of such committees include a social committee and a community service committee. The MSTP Council also serves an important role in providing leadership and organizational experience for interested students in the program who will be future leaders in science and medicine. Council members divide themselves among several committees that plan and implement the projects that are felt to be most important for the coming academic year. The entire Council meets once each month to hear and discuss these plans and how to implement them. The president, vice president and secretary are all elected for a one-year period. All MSTP students are welcome and encouraged to participate in the various committees and to attend the student council meetings.
