This training was developed in response to the passage of House Bill 68, which has become law in Ohio. The law contains significant practice changes for social workers and other behavioral healthcare providers. Much of the new law created by HB 68 affects the ability of minors to access medical gender-affirming care, but HB 68 also places restrictions on behavioral health professionals’ ability to provide gender-affirming mental healthcare to gender diverse youth. This law contradicts the ethical codes of practice for social workers and behavioral health care professionals as it relates to clients’ confidentiality ,commitment to non-discrimination, and alignment with evidence-based practice. This law is an unprecedented change to behavioral health practice.

The training will include gender-affirming care (GAC) overview; practical analysis of legislative attacks on GAC and the implications for behavioral healthcare; risk and liability management; responsive informed consent and documentation practice licensing; and in-depth ethical decision making.

This training is a Virtual only event. There will not be an in-person option
