Join CWRU MedWish!

CWRU MedWish is a hands-on social service club that partners with MedWish International to help bring medical supplies and devices to places in need. We encourage all, no matter the experience or major, to join us in our mission to recycle and repurpose medical equipment.
CWRU MedWish will promote healthcare equity on an international scale assisting MedWish International in processing medical devices. Our priority is to increase access to healthcare globally by repurposing locally donated medical equipment. CWRU MedWish assists in repairing and packaging priority medical devices for use in underserved regions. Our methods of device processing are based on a comprehensive and officially verified understanding of medical device guidelines.

EVENTS
-Sorting Events at MedWish International warehouse: Join a group of students as they sort through medical supplies donated from local hospitals, placing each item in specific categories.
-Biomed Events at MedWish International warehouse: Hosted every few Saturdays, this event is our most popular. Come work with Biomedical Engineers as you get to test and fix medical devices that have been donated. Plus you are treated to donuts! This event is only available to recognized Members of CWRU MedWish (see below Membership Benefits).
-Projects: Led by CWRU MedWish Project Coordinator, the projects are high in variety. The projects range from analyzing MedWish Data using R to creating blueprints for patient monitor mounts. Keep a look out for the next recruitment to projects via email.
-Guest Speakers over Zoom: Join prominent speakers as they discuss their backgrounds and current work. You can find all speaker dates and times in our events.
-General Body Meetings: We will be hosting both fun and educational general body meetings. Keep a look out for emails of the dates and activities.

Membership Benefits
These membership requirements are created due to the unique situation of working with an external organization, MedWish International. We must maintain reliability and consistency in our participation and attendance. But we appreciate all contributions of time no matter how small!

Being a Member of CWRU MedWish
-Members are recognized on campusgroups, see Documents "CWRU MedWish Recognized Members List"
-Only members will be able to register for the Saturday Biomed Event and get access to donuts!
-To check you're membership status you can view the Recognized Members list in the documents section of this page. (This list is updated every month. If you meet the requirements to become a recognized member you will receive an email informing you.)
-Members must complete the following requirements within one semester to maintain their membership for the following semester:
--1 sorting trips or Biomed Trip
--1 general body meetings or guest speakers (or combo)

Non-Members
-Will still have access to our campusgroups page and all of our emails
-Will be able to register for all events except for the Biomed Events
-In order to become a Member of CWRU MedWish one must complete the following within one semester:
--2 sorting trips, or 1 sorting trip + completion of 1 project
--1 general body meetings or guest speakers (or combo)

We will personally keep track of your attendance to events and will automatically update you to a member once the requirements are completed.
