Neurodiversity is a concept receiving significant attention among healthcare professionals, particularly those in the field of speech-language pathology and audiology. However, its consideration remains limited due to the insufficient recognition of comorbidities in individuals with neurodivergent conditions. Furthermore, the perception of neurodivergent individuals as merely "different" may lead the general public to overlook their challenges, dismissing these difficulties as an inherent and expected aspect of their condition rather than acknowledging them as legitimate struggles requiring support. During this reading session, we will explore the insights shared by an autistic Speech-Language Pathologist, whose experiences can inspire us to develop a more thoughtful and inclusive approach to caring for neurodivergent individuals.
