Lecture Title: "An Overview of Human Prion Disease and Introduction to the NPDPSC and CADRC Biobanks"
Abstract: We will review the current state of human prion disease research. Topics will include reviewing the pathogenesis of prion disease and how it relates to other neurodegenerative disorders, developing novel diagnostic biomarkers, and the expansion of therapeutic treatment trials. Additionally, the National Prion Disease Pathology Surveillance Center and Cleveland Alzheimer's Disease Research Center biobanks will be introduced and presented as a potential resource for CWRU Neuroscience faculty.
