In this lecture, Dr. Shontay Delalue explores belonging as an active process rooted in self-actualization, cultural humility, and critical reflexivity. Drawing from her leadership in higher education and her global engagement and research in West Africa, Dr. Delalue examines how meaningful cross-cultural experiences can deepen self-awareness, expand empathy, and challenge individuals and institutions to move toward authentic connection and community. This lecture invites audiences to consider how engaging differences with curiosity and reflection can transform not only how we relate to others, but how we understand ourselves.

This lecture is part of a year-long theme reimagining belonging as something we create together. Through speakers, panels and engaging conversations, participants will gain practical strategies to strengthen collaboration, build meaningful connections, and lead positive changes across the Case Western Reserve University community.
