Unity Banquet 2019

The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) at Case Western Reserve University invites you to the 29th Annual Unity Banquet and Scholarship Benefit.

We are thrilled to welcome our keynote speaker, JOSE ANTONIO VARGAS. Jose is a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, Emmy-nominated filmmaker, and a leading voice for the human rights of immigrants. Vargas produced and directed Documented, a film detailing his own journey to America as well as outing himself as undocumented as he was becoming an activist. Just recently in Fall 2018, Vargas released his memoir Dear America: Notes of an Undocumented Citizen, which will be for sale and on display in the University Bookstore starting on March 18th. In this memoir, Vargas speaks to what it means to live in the United States with an undocumented status and the act of passing as an American. Beyond writing and producing, Jose founded a non-profit organization, Define American, which uses the power of stories to shift the conversation about immigrants and immigration.
