Join us in Tomlinson Marketplace or at Pinzas in Tink for a Shoebox lunch! (limited supplies with souvenir box!)
Go back in history to understand the context for Black Americans, who because of Jim Crow laws and other racism, would need to pack lunches in shoeboxes if there would travel or even on marches because they could not rely on being able to be served at restaurants. In doing so, they attempted to turn this hateful inconvenience into a comforting reminder of home, and countered discrimination with self-reliance that boosted the connection to family and community.
