Why did activists switch from talking about racism to talking about white supremacy?

Join us to learn about white supremacy, how white identity is constructed, and your own sense of how your identity fits into the struggle for liberation.

This workshop is being offered at the request of CWRU students of color who would like good working relationships with white students around justice issues.

This interactive workshop will encourage self-reflection and self-acceptance for wherever you are on your journey with guidance on next steps for growth. You will have opportunities to create connection through paired sharing with others and explore new ideas in large group discussion. This event is not limited to white people’s participation. BIPOC individuals can choose to explore a parallel model or reflect on their observations about the white identity journey.

SURJ NEO’s mission is to bring white people into the fight for racial and economic justice. We actively support BIPOC led organizations locally and work to take down racist and classist structures locally and nationally.

Presenters Rob Loftis, Ph.D. and Suzanne Zilber, Ph.D. are current or retired faculty of other institutions who are leaders in SURJ NEO."
