Description of the Event:

CWRUcio Quidditch Team and CWRU for Autism Acceptance present the Spartan Run for Autism! This 5K charity run/walk is open to all members of the Cleveland community and will begin on DiSanto football field at Case Western Reserve University on Sunday, September 18th at 8:00 AM. Volunteers should arrive at 7:00 AM. The route passes through the Case Western campus, returning to DiSanto field at the end. All proceeds of this event will be donated to The Orange Effect Foundation, a charity dedicated to funding speech therapy for autistic children and others with speech disorders.

Instructions:

Please register for this volunteer opportunity and fill out the waiver on Campus Groups before you come to volunteer. You must fill out the waiver to be able to volunteer. You will be sent an email in advance with specific instructions on the volunteer role you’ll be performing. On the day of the run, please come to DiSanto field and go to the check-in table, where we will confirm you on Campus Groups. We will continue with the event even if it rains.

Don't forget to bring your own water bottle and dress for the weather!

Roles Available:

There are a variety of volunteer roles that need to be filled. If you will be volunteering for the full duration of the run, please arrive at DiSanto no later than 7:15 AM. The volunteer roles you may be assigned include the following:

- Set up, run, and take-down water stations as indicated on the route map

- Check-in table: hand out t-shirts to the first 50 sign-ups, check sizes of t-shirts

- Check-in table: hand out race numbers

- Help with set-up along the route and at DiSanto Field

- Call out the time to runners/walkers

- Direct the race at points indicated on the route map

- Be the last person at the end of the race to indicate where it ends

- Time and rank the runners at the end of the race

- Help with taking down everything along the route and at DiSanto Field

- Help with the awards ceremony and put medals on the winners' heads

If you are not able to volunteer for the full run, you are welcome to volunteer for a time at which you are available. Contact the event coordinator and you will be assigned to a role that you can perform in the time you are available.

Timeline:

7:00 AM - Setup Begins/volunteer register/snacks provided

8:00 AM - Registration of racers begins

8:30 AM - 5K Walk/Run Starts

10:00/10:15 AM - Awards Ceremony

10:30 AM to 11 AM - Teardown

Race Route:

The map of the race route and security stations can be found here. Water station locations will be added closer to the race date. Please be familiar with the route before the run, as you may be responsible for directing runners along the route.

Parking:

If you need parking, please park in the adjoining parking garage behind DiSanto Field, Lot 46. An attendant will be present and parking will cost $7.
