About Us

The Summer Health and Academic Enrichment Program (SHAEP), made possible through support from the Nord Family Foundation, is a two-week June residency program designed to promote health and academic enrichment among high-school students. Launched in 2011, the program provides a sample college experience hosted on the Case Western Reserve University campus. Students live in dorms, attend classes, and explore the rich cultural institutions of University Circle that surround the campus.

Members Benefits

During two week long programs, students participate in hands-on activities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields (STEM) (Week 1), and/or in the arts (Week 2). Many students participate in both weeks, but SHAEP welcomes those who are only able to attend one; many students take advantage of this option, as well. The program also incorporates the curriculum of the award-winning National Youth Sports Program (NYSP), which provides SHAEP participants with opportunities for regular exercise, healthy eating, nutrition education, and physical exams.
