Gala Latina: Promoting Latinx Excellence

Gala Latina is an annual banquet held by SHPE and La Alianza which focuses on the cultural celebration and empowerment of our Latinx community on CWRU campus as well as in our broader Northeast Ohio community. As one of our main flagship events, Gala Latina serves as our platform to highlight Latinx excellence and share compelling stories of Latinx success.

The theme this year is Nuestra Voz in an effort to uplift the voices and needs of the Latinx community, both at CWRU and nationally. We will be featuring a CWRU student and alumni speaker, as well as closing speaker IL State Representative Edgar Gonzalez, the youngest elected IL Representative. We will watch video clips of Latinx/Hispanic people calling to be heard, to be seen, and sharing the positives of receiving their platform. Join us in discussion of how we can motivate our community to act.

FOR FOOD:
If you are on campus, or in the Cleveland area, we are catering a limited number of food plates (35) from El Caribe for this event. Be sure to indicate if you are picking up food by filling out a time slot portion! We have Pernil (Pork), Steak, and Vegetarian plates to choose from, with empanadas and flan.
We will be passing out food in the center of campus at KSL Oval from 4:00pm-5:30pm EST on Saturday, 10/17. If this changes, we will notify you!
