Mission The purpose of CWRU Sleep Health Society (SHS) is to introduce pre-health, pre-medical, and pre-doctoral students in nursing, psychology, anthropology, and related fields to the diverse field of Sleep Medicine and Sleep Health by bringing together a group of peers with similar interests through presentations by Sleep Medicine and Sleep Health specialists and scientists of various backgrounds, clinical examples, discussions, journal clubs, and career preparation information. Medical students and health undergraduate and graduate students will become aware of this multifaceted, interdisciplinary field and participate in activities, related to the field of Sleep Science, teaching and inspiring a new generation of Sleep Medicine and Sleep Health professionals, Sleep Scientists, and Advocates.
Membership BenefitsThe CWRU community is a diverse population of driven and curious students with many different backgrounds and aspirations. The Sleep Medicine and Sleep Health field is not limited to just doctors, but is composed of Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, and Sleep Technologists all working in collaboration with Cardiologists, Pulmonologists, Dentists, Psychologists, Dieticians, Therapists, and many other professionals to help provide all with equal access to a good night’s sleep. Sleep is a basic, yet complicated, human need that not only affects one’s mood, but also has a significant impact on one’s development, growth, mental capacity, cognitive functions, immune support, cardiologic health, and much much more. This emerging field in medicine must be better understood to more holistically and thoroughly treat patients.
