Mission
SLIC is a collectively run organization that empowers students to effect change in their own areas of greatest interest. Our mission is two-pronged: introduce legislation to address local issues, and develop research competency of SLIC student members. We research, draft, and advocate for legislative solutions to local problems. In the process, members increase their knowledge of local and statewide issues, develop realistic strategies to advance legislative initiatives, and broaden their research skills.

Students will engage with the local community, have unique research and problem-solving experiences, gain competency in navigating the local political system and gain a greater awareness and appreciation of how legislation can address issues.
