Overview:
Participants will learn how to assemble a compelling set of specific aims as the first part of a research grant application.
Objectives:
1. List and describe the principal components of a persuasive specific aims page;
2. Apply the 5Cs of sound scientific writing (conciseness, clarity, cogency, commonness, and consistency) to the drafting of a specific aims page.)

As a research scientist at Case Western Reserve University’s Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, Dr. Ufholz research focuses on the diagnosis and management of chronic illnesses and working to improve the quality of primary care. Dr. Ufholz also serves as one of the principal investigators of the demonstration project, which has the goal of determining best practices for identifying and evaluating unintentional weight loss in adults through detailed analysis of electronic health records.
