Details
Students entering college this fall learned in a variety of teaching formats over the past two years, with secondary school and higher education faculty working to meet their differing needs. As we all reflect on our first-week encounters with students, Matthew Garrett and Jenny Hadingham will briefly share James Lang's four principles to create and maintain engaging learning environments: curiosity, community, learning, and expectations. Lang is a fellow educator and learning center colleague, and he shares broad suggestions and discipline-specific ideas for a successful semester start in his article from The Chronicle of Higher Education. Faculty and Graduate Teaching Assistants are invited to participate in UCITE's First Friday event on September 1, from 11:30-12:30 pm in the Herrick Room of the Allen Memorial Medical Library. Join us for an informal conversation over a pizza lunch, as we share ideas among one another to empower our students to learn.
