Join us on June 16 at 1:00 pm via Zoom as part of the Case Western Reserve University Entrepreneurship Series for a Roundtable Discussion with alum Eric Ver Ploeg ('88), Managing Director, Deutsche Telekom Capital Partners. He will discuss his career journey from graduating CWRU with a BS in Electrical Engineering to obtaining an MBA at Stanford to becoming a venture capitalist. Other topics will include his experience with investing in entrepreneurs and how COVID-19 impacts the world of an investor.  

Ver Ploeg was previously a Managing Director at VantagePoint Venture Partners, where he headed the mobile practice. Today, he is currently a Managing Director at Deutsche Telekom Capital Partners, an international investment management group that invests in and advises the technology, media, and telecommunications sectors. Before beginning his investing career, Ver Ploeg co-founded two venture-backed start-ups.

This conversation will be facilitated by Case Western Reserve University student Vaibhav Khurana ('21), who is currently pursuing an MBA and an MS in Management - Finance, Corporate Risk Management.

Eric serves as Managing Director, Venture Capital at DTCP. He serves as a Board Member/Observer at Anomali, Dynamic Signal, Innovid, and Pinger, and works closely with portfolio companies Lookout, BlueJeans, Global Savings Group, and Nominum.

Prior to DTCP, he was a Managing Director at VantagePoint Venture Partners, where he headed the mobile practice, leading rounds of funding at Spatial Wireless, OZ Communications, and many others. He has personally invested in numerous startups and has also run a quant hedge fund. Before beginning his investing career, he co-founded two venture-backed startups, where he raised five rounds of venture capital.

Eric earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, as well as an MBA and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University.
