Session 2 Learning Objectives:
Understand and begin to utilize the metaphor of the arena to examine the challenges associated with feeling vulnerable - Recognize the armor that gets in the way of daring leadership - Develop an understanding of the behaviors that characterize daring leadership as compared to armored leadership.
Speakers
Margaret DeLillo-Storey
Dr. Margaret DeLillo-Storey is a Licensed Clinical Counselor/Supervisor currently working in the Perry Local School System in Stark County, Ohio. She is a Contributing Faculty Member at Walden University in the Counseling and Behavioral Science Program. Dr. D is contracted with the Stark County Educational Service Center working in the areas of Trauma, Resiliency, and Education Collaboration. She is a Certified Dare to Lead Facilitator and conducts workshops and small trainings enhancing strong leaders to improve climate, culture and productivity.
Dr. D is also a Certified Trainer with Starr Commonwealth out of Michigan in the areas of Trauma, Resiliency and Education for schools and communities.
Margaret is a retired United States Army Officer and Combat War Veteran, having served in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. During her 22 years with the Army, she held leadership positions in Plans, Operations and Communications, Security, Ethics and Morality, Morale Welfare and Support Officer, Education and Training Administration, and was retired out of Logistics.
Margaret was inducted into the Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame in 2011 and was the first woman from Stark County, as well as the youngest inducted.
She is a published author and researcher.
Margaret resides in Stark County, Ohio with her husband, Duane. They have two grown children, Nick and Courtney, and a host of extended family, both biological and those acquired as friends and counted as family.
Anne Thompson
Anne specializes in organizational behavior, culture change, team dynamics, emotional and social intelligence, leadership development and executive coaching. She has over 25 years' experience in her field and has worked internally and externally for a wide range of organizations including Aileron, Ford Motor Company, The Robert Bosch Corporation, Ivy Tech Community College, Butler University, The United Way, McGohan Brabender and Dublin City Schools.
She has a deep passion for supporting women and has worked diligently to build gender diversity. She serves as the President for Rebellious Dreamer, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide financial and mentoring support for women to reclaim their dreams. And for the past 18 years, she has co-led a multitude of leadership development experiences for women to strengthen their well-being, emotional and social competence, influence and leadership impact.
Anne holds a Master in Organization Development from Bowling Green State University. She is a certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitator, holds a Brain Based Coaching Certificate® from the NeuroLeadership Institute and is accredited in the Emotional and Social Competency Inventory.
Kate Riffee
Dr. Riffee graduated with a BS in Physical Education from Ithaca College, an MA in Sport Management and a Ph.D. in Counselor Education from Ohio State.
Dr. Riffee retired from The Ohio State University Department of Athletics in 2015 after 35 years of service. Much of her tenure at OSU was as director of the Student Athlete Support Services Office, assisting with the academic, career, as well as the leadership and personal development needs of the student-athletes. She was a leader in the development of many initiatives at the NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and University levels, earning several awards and recognitions.
After retirement, Kate joined the faculty at both Ohio Dominican University and Ohio Wesleyan University where she teaches in their Sport Management Programs.
Kate is certified in both The Daring Way™ and Dare To Lead™ Programs and has been facilitating individuals and groups in this important work for over 5 years.
