CLASS REGISTRATION REMINDERS
  • BUAI Electives: SIGN UP HERE to for the BUAI Waiver Exam.

Come explore sewing with our Janome Memory Craft sewing machine!
Stitch a quick project from start to finish. In this workshop, you will be led by one of our awesome Student Technicians through the basics of stitching, fabric, and using the machine. This training is a great resource for anyone looking to use the think[box] sewing machine for the first time.

You will learn:
The capabilities and limitations of our sewing machine.
A beginner's overview of machine sewing, with a focus on different stitching types.
How to navigate the sewing machine interface.
What to look for when using the machine, as well as tips and tricks for troubleshooting common issues.

Important Notes:
All participants will make an instructor-lead project. If your goal is to complete a personal print or project, this training teaches skills that support that goal, but will not provide time or support for personal projects. Users can come in any time during our open hours to work on personal projects. Student Technicians are available during those times to help. Schedule a consultation for projects that need additional support.
This training is not mandatory for using the machine. You can jump right in by following our online tutorials.
Training is open and free for participants ages 8+. Participants 8-13 must complete training with an accompanying adult.
This class may be canceled if it does not reach its minimum required amount.

The Father Michael Wittman Ozanam Center at Chambers Empowerment Center in East Cleveland provides access to food and clothing to those in need. Volunteers are needed to register and check in and out clients, sort and hang clothing, pack grocery bags, and offer hospitality.

Come explore 3D Printing with the Ultimaker 2+!
Make a small 3D printed object in PLA, learning to go from simple design creation to printing an object. In this workshop, you will be led by an awesome Student Technician through an introduction to basic 3D modeling, generating g-code for the 3D printer, and setting up and running the machine. This workshop will teach you the basics of setting up a file for 3D print success.

You will learn: 
The capabilities and limitations of our Ultimaker 2+ 3D printers.
An overview of Tinkercad, with a focus on designing for 3D print success.
How to navigate Cura to orient your model and choose the correct settings for printing. 
Sears think[box]'s system for requesting an SD card and purchasing filament.
How to set up your 3D printer for printing.   
What to look for when 3D printing, as well as tips and tricks for troubleshooting common issues.

Reimagining Skills and Digital Credentials with AI Open Skill Genome Project Final Presentation

Join us for the culminating presentation of Open Skill Genome Project, a collaborative research initiative transforming how we recognize and verify skills in the AI age. Developed by Case Western Reserve University, the University of Pittsburgh, and the Digital Credentials Consortium at MIT, and supported by the Walmart Foundation, our project conceptualizes a decentralized, AI-powered, privacy-preserving system for Learning and Employment Records (LERs).

During this session, our research team will showcase a live demonstration of the prototype, designed to turn education, experience, and skills into verifiable digital credentials that support a more inclusive, secure, and agile workforce.
