Where every student counts.

About Us

Weatherhead’s accounting program is among the finest in the country. Accounting majors enjoy close contact with our outstanding faculty. They are recruited heavily by Big Four accounting firms, local and regional firms, financial institutions, consulting firms, and various Fortune 500 companies.

Perhaps the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) summarized it best when it stated: "Accounting: The One Degree with 360 Degrees of Possibilities": "…there's one degree that gives you the education to succeed at just about anything in the business world. It's an accounting degree. Accounting opens doors in every kind of business coast to coast…In fact, no matter what you decide to do, having an accounting background can open doors wide."

What we offer

Whether you want a little accounting or a lot, we have an option for you.

BS in Accounting

The accounting curriculum prepares students for entrance into their careers while also providing a foundation for the examination to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or to achieve other professional certifications. As an accounting major, you will add to the core foundation provided by a Weatherhead bachelor's degree the necessary knowledge to be prepared for careers in public accounting, corporate accounting, consulting, and other fields.

Secondary Major or Minor

Whether your planned career path places you in a corporate, non-profit, or small business setting, knowledge of accounting is extremely valuable in enhancing your personal skill set. Choose to add a secondary major in Accounting by completing a set of 10 accounting courses or at just 15 credit hours, you can easily add an accounting minor to your current undergraduate plan.

Integrated Study Option

Obtain your BS in Accounting degree and a MAcc degree in as little as four years in this integrated study program. This program is strongly recommended for those individuals planning to obtain professional certification as a certified public accountant (CPA). In order to qualify to sit for the CPA examination, candidates must have completed 150 semester hours of study at the university level, including specific credit hours and courses in accounting and general business. The integrated program fulfills these requirements in the state of Ohio and saves qualified students both time and money while equipping students with the skills and knowledge attractive to top accounting firms.

The Case Western Reserve University Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) Pi Chapter was founded in 1930 and is the 16th chapter of more than 300 chapters nationwide. We are an honors organization for accounting students. Each week we have professional speakers from public accounting and industry come to speak to our members. Our chapter also gives back to the community through volunteer events at the Cleveland Foodbank, Ronald McDonald House, and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance IRS program.
