MetroHealth's Center for Biomedical Ethics: Virtual Bioethics@Noon Grand Rounds

In this talk we will delve into the ethical considerations associated with the medical management of intersex children. We will begin with an overview of intersex traits, the prevalence of these variations, and the historical evolution of intersex care. From there we will examine a real-life case example of a child referred to as "M.C.", to highlight the intricate relationship between the social, medical, and legal norms that influence, and at times, complicate, the healthcare landscape for intersex children.
