The Biodesign Club is a student-led organization dedicated to creating innovative biomaterials—such as bioplastics, bioleather, algae-based yarns, and mycelium composites—as sustainable alternatives to conventional materials. We not only design and prototype these materials, but also test and refine their properties to improve performance. By exploring applications across design, fashion, architecture, medicine, and beyond, we aim to advance sustainable innovation and contribute to a circular future.

We aim to connect students with a shared interest in birding and ornithology, expose students to renowned local birding hotspots via regular field trips, host monthly Zoom meetings with seasonally relevant speakers, and forge a connection between students and the CWRU Farm and its potent biodiversity.

Interest in birding has exploded nationwide, and the CWRU Birding Club aims to foster an inclusive community for students interested in the hobby of birding. The Northeast Ohio region contains extraordinary, world-renowned locations for birding which are especially vibrant in the spring and fall, when annual migrations overlap with CWRU’s semester. The Case Surgical Society (CSS) serve as a means for students interested in the surgical field of medicine to learn more about surgery. CSS is a strong advocate for experiential learning, and we will provide hands-on learning experiences with using suturing instruments and practice suturing on suture mats. CSS will also teach students about different suturing and surgical techniques, surgical specialties, and what it means to pursue a career in surgery. Join CSS to gain valuable suturing experience and knowledge about surgery to prepare for your future endeavors in health care.

Mission
Trading Card Game (TCG) is a popular hobby that allows players to collect unique playing cards, build their own creative deck, and compete with other players in an exciting turn-based match against their opponent's decks. Some of the most popular TCGs include Magic The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, and Pokemon Trading Card Game, with an ever-growing popularity of virtual TCGs such as Heartstone as well. Much like a sport, the competitive nature of this hobby requires a community of players who can play with one another, cooperate in critical thinking to discover the best deck recipes and strategies, and communicate rigorously to better understand the rules or essence of the game. The purpose of CTCG would be to provide such a community to both competitive and casual student players: to support talented, competitive student players compete in regional or national events and to help casual players enjoy their favorite TCG within a healthy community.

Membership Benefits
First and most importantly, CTCG provides students with a passionate and constructive community to enjoy their favorite TCG. This will be reflected in a weekly gathering (dates may vary depending on the popularity of a certain TCG), where students can simply come together to challenge one another in their favorite game. The club plans to provide students with equipment to enhance their playing experience: items such as card mats, dice, tokens, and a comprehensive rulebook will be made available to members. Depending on the popularity of a TCG amongst students, a larger tournament may be held within the club annually or semesterly to promote competitive sportsmanship.

For the students who are passionate and capable of competing at a national level, the club, if funded by the USG to do so, would love to help them participate in national events and conferences.

For all members and casual players of a TCG, the club will make an effort to guide them to enjoy the game in a healthy manner. Since TCG is a collectible game, and collectible games by nature may be very addicting, the club plans to combat potential factors of addiction by implementing an accountability partner to every member, so that each member not only has someone to always play the game with, but also to have conversations about budget, spending goals, and self-control.

The club plans to send out newsletters about the latest updates to a TCG (new card released, new championship series, etc.) to allow students to access news on their favorite TCG easily.

Our group will connect CWRU students living with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes and provided community support to managing these complex chronic illnesses. We seek to understand the medical, business, and societal institution that is healthcare, specifically but not limited to, the mainstream conversation around ethics, the social determinants of health, health finance, and health policy. We aim to not focus solely on specific topics such as the affordability of healthcare, but to recognize all of its facets. With the vast number of fields that weave into the institution of healthcare, we want to create an inclusive atmosphere of constructive dialogue where students of diverse backgrounds can learn and question the status quo. To supplement this conversation, we plan to bring in guest speakers that provide insight into the different facets of healthcare.
